Day 1: Amman Airport Amman Hotel
Welcome to Jordan! Our representative meets you with a signage in front of the immigration Amman Airport. Get to know your friendly, English speaking chauffeur. 45 minutes transfer to your hotel in Amman. Overnight at Toledo Hotel or similar for the 3* category, at Al Qasr Metropole Hotel or similar for the 4* category, at The House Boutique Suites or similar for the 5* category.
 
Day 2: Blessed Tree – Qasr Amra – Kahf Al Raqim – Amman Hotel
We head two hours east to reach the Blessed Tree surrounded by arid land. It is believed that Prophet Mohammad rested here as a boy when traveling with his uncle to Syria. The monk Bahira recognized on this occasion Muhammad’s future as Prophet. On our way back to the capital we stop at one of the Desert Castles, built in the 8th century. Qasr Amra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is notable for its zodiac dome and the early examples of Islamic art with its Umayyad fresco paintings. Then to the Cave of the Seven Sleepers, known as Kahf Al Raqim. During religious persecution seven boys hid in a cave, and felt asleep for three hundred years and nine days. The story is mentioned in the Quran. Return to your Amman hotel.

Day 3: Battle of Yarmouk – Jerash – Jordan Valley – Amman Hotel
Head 2.5 hours the site of the famous Battle of Yarmouk lasting 6 days in summer 636. To recover lost territory the Byzantine Emperor Heracilus gathered a large army to face here the Muslim Army. Although the Muslims were greatly outnumbered, their commander Khalid Bin Al Walid led them to victory and with this the control over Greater Syria. Continue to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. A local guide will make history come alive. Explore the spectacular Forum, the Roman colonnaded street, the Nymphaeum, theatres and the Temple of Artemis. In the Jordan Valley we visit the tomb of Moath bin Jabal, who compiled the Holy Quran during the life of Prophet Mohammad.
Next to the Mosque of Abu Obaidah. He was a relative of Prophet Mohammad and one of the first to convert to Islam. He participated in all major events and was of the Blessed Ten to whom the prophet promised paradise. As supreme commander of the Northern Muslim Army he successfully conquered Syria. At the age of 58 he fell victim to the Great Plague. His tomb can be found in the mosque. Transfer to your hotel in Amman.

Day 4: Amman Hotel – Shrines Salt Area Amman City Tour Amman Hotel
Today drive around 30 minutes towards the town of Salt. Visit the shrine of Prophet Yusha or Joshua, the successor of Prophet Moses mentioned in Quran Suret Alkahf. We continue to the shrine of Shuaib or Jethro, one of the wisest and well-spoken prophets. His was active in Midian and talked to merchants to abandon corrupt practices. If you wish free time in the old city of Salt where you see some houses in Ottoman style. Back in Amman we visit the historical places in Downtown. See the Citadel with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period and the small the Archaeological Museum. Explore the Roman Theatre from 2nd century with 6000 seats. Then stroll in the Souq, where you get an idea of everyday life. Pass by Al-Husseini Mosque, rebuilt in 1924 on the remains of a mosque from 640 AD by Caliph Umar bin Al-Khattab. Pass also Jabal Ashrafiyeh to see the black and white Abu Darwish Mosque. Overnight Amman hotel.

Day 5: Amman Hotel Battle of Mutah – Kerak Castle – Tafilah Petra Hotel
Check out from hotel to start driving 130 km southwards to the area of Kerak, where the Battle of Mutah took place in 629 AD. The troops of Prophet Mohammad fought against the forces of the Byzantine Empire and the Christian Ghassanid. Three commanders of the Muslim army died in the battle, the tombs of Zaid bin Harith, Ja’far in Abi Talib, and Abdullah bin Ruwah we visit today. Then tour the Crusader Castle in Kerak from the 12th century. The large castle offers stunning views of its surroundings and inside a lots of underground passageways, rooms and stairways. Further south, close to Tafilah, visit the shrine of Jabir Bin Abdullah Al-Ansari, who was beside Prophet Mohammad during the conquest of Mecca. You find here the tomb of the venerable companion Al-Harith bin Umayr Al-Azdi. His beheading as emissary was the source for the Battle of Mutah. Day 6: Petra visit Petra Hotel
Today visit the highlight of Jordan, the red rose city Petra! Meet your local guide and pass the narrow canyon, the so called Siq, with its colourful sandstone. At the end you will be rewarded with a view of the most beautiful monument: the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. After around 2 hours the guide says farewell to you at the restaurant area. You have free time to explore Petra on your own. The young at heart for instance have the chance to climb the 800 stairs to the 45 meters high Monastery El Deir. Return to the main gate. Overnight Petra.

Day 7: Petra Hotel Wadi Rum 2 hours jeep ride Aqaba Amman Hotel
Drive 1.5 hours to Wadi Rum, one of the most impressing desert landscapes in the world. Your Bedouin driver takes you on a 4x4 to canyons, red sand dunes and Nabatean rock inscriptions. Within 45 minutes reach Aqaba at the Red Sea. Tour the remains of the ancient Islamic city of Ayla, centres around the mosque, and built by the Rashedi Caliph Othman Ben Afen around 650 A.D. Free time in Aqaba, Jordan’s only sea port. From here your driver takes you on a long four hours journey back to your hotel in Amman. Overnight at Toledo Hotel or similar for the 3* category, at Al Qasr Metropole Hotel or similar for the 4* category, at The House Boutique Suites or similar for the 5* category.

Day 8: Amman Hotel Amman Airport
Dependent on your departure time transfer to Amman Airport to say farewell to Jordan.

  • 4x4s in Wadi Rum desert are old vehicles with no A/C and belong to the local Bedouin association.
  • Tour guides in Jerash and Petra are licensed by Ministry of Tourism and are not part of our team.
  • A 700 meters horse ride from the main gate to the beginning of the Siq is included in the admission fee Petra. Horse handler expects a tip of 5 JD per horse. Horse drawn carriage, camel or donkey ride can be booked for certain distances and paid on spot
