Day 2: Amman Hotel - Umm Qais - Jerash - Amman Hotel
Morning time we drive two hours from Amman to Gadara, known as Umm Qais. The town belonged to the famous Decapolis, a union of 10 cities, founded by Alexander the Great. Several poets and philosophers lived here, and this is the place where the Biblical miracle of the Gadarene swine took place. In Umm Quais you see ruins of theatres and colonnaded streets and have an overwhelming view over the north Jordan Valley, the Golan Heights and the Sea of Galilee. Best time to visit is spring when the surrounding hills are lush and green. We continue then to Jerash, the best example of a Roman provincial city in the whole Middle East. The well preserved ruins had been hidden for centuries in sand, before the excavations started in 1925. Wander along the spectacular Forum, paved and colonnaded streets, the Nymphaeum, theatres and the Temple of Artemis. Return to your hotel in Amman.
Meals: Breakfast

Day 3: Amman 2.5 Hours City Tour - Dead Sea Hotel Free Afternoon
Visit Amman, the bustling capital of Jordan. Though already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbat Ammon, the city is modern with only a few ancient attractions we visit today. Head downtown to explore the Citadel hill with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period and a small Archaeological Museum. Onto the opposite Roman Theatre from the 2nd century with 6,000 seats. From here stroll along the vibrant Souq with its different shops and stalls. We stop in Jabal Amman at Rainbow Street with its charm of early 20th century houses, cafés and restaurants. From here drive 1.5 hours to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. The dark mud found on its shores has been used for over 2,000 years for therapeutic purposes. Enjoy this natural wonder with leisure time at the beach and the unique experience, to float on the salty buoyant waters. Overnight Kempinski Ishtar or similar.
Meals: Breakfast

Day 4: Dead Sea Hotel - Dana to Feynan Hike (14 km) - Feynan Ecolodge
Your driver greets you in the hotel lobby and we drive two hours to Dana, the second largest nature reserve in Jordan. From Dana village escape today into nature. The Dana Reserve is characterized by a chain of valleys and mountains which extend from the top of the Jordan Rift Valley down to the desert lowlands of Wadi Araba. The route leads downhill with an initial steep descent, passing through sandstone gorges and the 4 different bio-geological zones of Dana. Enjoy the colours of the mountains and valleys; you may see shepherds and their goats along the way. A lunch bag is provided. The tour ends in Wadi Feynan, where 3,000 years ago copper had been mined and worked up. Dinner and overnight in the Feynan Ecolodge, located in the middle of the desert. The lodge serves vegetarian food only, is powered by solar energy and lit in the evenings by candles. With other guests you can do the short sunset hike offered by the lodge, and in the night gaze with a telescope at the stars.

Day 5: Feynan Free Morning - Shobak Castle - Little Petra - Petra Hotel

A small fee might apply which goes directly to the local host families. Lunch bag is provided. Latest check-out from your room is 11:00. A jeep ride takes you to the reception centre, where you meet your driver again and hit the road to Shobak. It is a small Crusader castle built in 1115 by Baldwin I of Jerusalem, but has its charm due to an isolated location and nice views over the rugged surroundings. Onto Little Petra, giving you a glimpse what to expect in Petra. You enter the site through a narrow canyon which opens up to carved buildings, tombs and water channels. One of the caves shows the remains of a Nabatean fresco painting. 15 minutes ride to your hotel in Petra for check-in at Movenpick Resort or similar.

Day 6: Petra Hotel - Petra Visit - Wadi Rum Camp
Today visit Petra, the spectacular rose rock city, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. Prepare yourself for walking over uneven terrain. Petra is the biggest attraction of Jordan and was first established around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabatean Arabs, a nomadic tribe who settled in the area and laid the foundation of a commercial empire that extended into Syria. Start with a walk to the canyon, the so-called Siq, at its end you see the most beautiful monument, the Treasury. The building rises over 40 meters, and is carved into the sandstone like most of Petra’s architecture. Continue via the Street of Facades, passing by the Theatre to the Royal Tombs. Return along the same trail to the main entrance. From here the journey takes us 1.5 hours to Wadi Rum. Check into your campsite, where dinner and the desert night with a hopefully starry sky awaits you. Overnight at Palmera Camp or similar.

The setting had been used for Hollywood movies. You see canyons, red sand dunes, Nabatean rock inscriptions and a natural rock bridge formed over centuries.
