Your driver takes you 50 km to the Roman ruins of Jerash. Set in the hills of Gilead, Jerash is the best example of a Roman provincial city in the Middle East. Your local English speaking guide will give you a historical insight while showing you around. See the Hippodrome, the spectacular Forum, Roman colonnaded street, the Nymphaeum, the Temple of Artemis and the North Theatre. Time to stroll around the remains on your own. Then to Amman, the bustling capital of Jordan. Though already mentioned in the Bible as Rabbat Ammon, the city is modern with only a few ancient attractions we visit today. Head downtown to explore the Citadel hill with remains from the Roman to the early Islamic period and a small Archaeological Museum. Onto the opposite Roman Theatre from the 2nd century with 6,000 seats. From here stroll along the vibrant Souq with its different shops and stalls. We stop in Jabal Amman at Rainbow Street with its charme of early 20th century houses, cafés and restaurants. Return transfer to your hotel in Amman.

Day 3: Amman Hotel - Madaba - Mt Nebo - Dead Sea Beach - Petra Hotel
Head 30 minutes to Madaba, the town known in Jordan as the “City of Mosaic”. See the famous 6th-century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land at St. George’s Church. Head to Mt Nebo which is about 710 meters above sea level. From here overlook the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and parts of the Holy Land. According to the Bible this is the place where Moses granted to see the Promised Land before he died and alleged to be his burial place. Drive down to the Dead Sea, with 430 meters below sea level it is the lowest point on earth. This natural wonder attracts visitors since ancient times, it is said even King Herod and Cleopatra took a bath here. We bring you to one of the beaches equipped with locker rooms and showers. Float on the buoyant and salty water, cover your body with the dark mud on the shores for some beauty effects or just relax at this special place. Proceed 3 hours to your hotel in Petra. Overnight at 3* Town Season Hotel or similar.

Day 4: Petra Hotel - Petra Visit - Petra Hotel
Today visit the highlight of Jordan, the red rose city Petra! You are able to start as early as 06:00, but early birds don’t forget to ask the hotel for a breakfast box the day before. Petra is Jordan’s top attraction and was founded around the 6th century B.C. by the Nabataean Arabs. Initially a nomadic tribe, they developed agriculture techniques and became successful as traders. Meet your local guide and pass the narrow canyon, the so-called Siq, with its colourful sandstone. At the end you will be rewarded with a view of the most beautiful monument, the Treasury. Continue via the Street of Facades to the Royal Tombs and Pharaoh's Castle. After around 2 hours the guide says farewell to you at the restaurant area. You have free time to explore Petra on your own. The young at heart for instance have the chance to climb the 800 stairs to the 45 meters high Monastery El Deir. Return along the same trail to the main gate, and from here back to the hotel. Enjoy your lunch in a shady place. Saddle your camels and off we go to the Um Frouth Rock Bridge.
